The Punakha Dzong, often referred to as the ‘Palace of Happiness’, is the second oldest and second largest Dzong in Bhutan. It was constructed by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the Founder of Bhutan in 1638.
The Dzong houses many sacred relics including the Rangjung Kharsapani and the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal and Terton Pema Lingpa.
